Members of the Azkals on Another Sexual Harassment Controversy

If you can remember, July of last year, a woman named Amanda Coling came out claiming that she was sexually harassed by some members of the Philippine Azkals [Anton del Rosario, Jason Sabio, Simon Greatwich, and Neil Etheridge]... The issue has died down as the accuser decided to lay low to protect her career.


8 months later, another controversy involving sexual harassment by 2 Azkals broke out, now with a different woman, former President Ramos' daughter, Cristy.

During the mandatory team check of the Azklas, where Cristy Ramos stood as match commissioner for their friendly match against team Malaysia, Cristy claims that she heard from Lexter Moy [who stood beside her] 'must be a B cup' and then the players laughed loudly.

After that embarrassing incident, Cristy checked another Azkals player, Angel Guirado. Angel stood in front of her wearing only his underwear without making any attempt to cover himself, out of respect for a woman.


From the stories I heard about some of the Azkals, they give me the impression that they lack respect for women. However, since most of them are not Filipino or did not grow up in the Philippines, their values may differ from ours. For us it may be offensive, but for them it may not really mean anything.


Let's see where this issue goes... But, personally, my sympathy goes out to Cristy.
